If you wonder how long it takes to paint one of dem commissioned classic car portraits… Well, just around one minute according to this time lapse video!
On a more serious note – it usually takes one to eight weeks depending on the painting size and my current workload & health. Every so often I build custom size painting support which would add a week or two (between materials delivery and support preparation).
All of my artwork was wind-proofed by tying all paintings and easels to the car. So if one decides to get blown off… they’ll all go!
Knowing that the artwork is secure, I could happily wander around. There were many classic beauties on show, from rusty hybrids…
to gleaming color-assorted MGs! Big thanks to all visitors who took time to browse my stand and say very kind words about the artwork. The cherry on top was to see this in my Facebook News Feed the day after the show:
Thanks from me, one very grateful artist :-)[facebook_like_button][feather_share skin=”wheel” size=”24″]
Every so often I get asked whether I exhibit my artwork at Art Shows or Classic & Vintage Car Shows.
Well, I have pocketed a few shows…
Merrion Square ‘Sunday Art’ and Stephen’s Green ‘People’s Art’ throughout 2010… Mosney, Terenure and Dunboyne Vintage & Classic Car shows in 2011… The mecca of Vintage Car lovers – Goodwood Revival in the UK in 2012…
Took a break in 2013 – was injured in a car accident and had to take almost a year off all work… Yet, I still had my first Solo Show in Ireland in Ocotber 2013 (click to see photos and the TV3 feature on my artwork):
If you are one of the lovely visitors who chatted to me during Mosney show, you’d recognize this straight away: Yep, that’s my random humble set up for the day! Was planning to have a beautiful tent, hang all the paintings and Limited Edition Prints properly, have a table for the cards and a chair to catch the rays in… create a small Car Art Gallery for the day!.. Yet, so strong was the wind that i HAD to take the tent down. And then keep covering the paintings with plastic/tent fabric to save them from getting drenched… Life seemed pretty tough for the first couple of hours :-/
Thankfully, the weather picked up and the afternoon was absolutely fantastic (that’s Ireland for you in case you are a faraway reader). Sounds like more commissions are coming my way… Even got a request to paint a rare breed doggie?!..
Big thanks to all the lovely folks who helped me with the tent, the rain cover and the overall support. Classic Car Show crowd is par none!
